The synchronization phenomenon, in which a complex system functions as a single body, exists in different orders of magnitude: from subatomic particles to cells in a body, members of animal or human groups, to galaxies.

The rising sea temperatures caused by climate change is a matter of great importance to this research. One of the consequences of this increase is the bleaching of corals, which has been observed around the world in recent years and is raising much concern (the bleaching points to oxidative stress that might lead to death). Prof. Oren Levy and doctoral candidate Evyatar Weizmann of Bar-Ilan’s Goodman Faculty of Life Sciences  have discovered a method of developing coral resistant to climate change.
