BIU hosts 39th Annual Conference of Israel Vacuum Society & Israeli Conference on Plasma Science and Applications

Bar-Ilan University, jointly with other Israeli universities, hosted online the 39th Annual Conference of the Israel Vacuum Society and the Israeli Conference on Plasma Science and Applications on November 17, 2021. The Plenary Speaker, Prof. Yi Cui of Stanford University, was introduced by the world-renowned scientist, Prof. Doron Aurbach of the BIU Department of Chemistry. The conference was addressed by a roster of keynote speakers from leading academic and research institutions worldwide, including Oxford University, Imperial College (London), EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne), Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, and Columbia University. Prof. Zeev Zalevski, an award-winning scientist and Dean of BIU’s Kofkin Faculty of Engineering, also presented at the conference. Scientists from Israeli universities organized the conference, including Prof. Daniel Nessim, Prof. Ilya Grinberg, and Dr. Haim Barak, from BIU’s Department of Chemistry. Prof. Hagay Shpaisman, also of the Department of Chemistry, took part as a session chair at the conference.

Prof. Gilbert Daniel Nessim, who heads BIU’s Nanosynthesis Lab, presides over the Israel Vacuum Society, which aims to promote and stimulate professional interconnections and communication among Israeli scientists specializing in the areas of surface science, thin films, and vacuum science and to foster educational activities in these areas at various scientific levels.
