Bar-Ilan University helping therapists deal with the trauma of war
Bar-Ilan University scholars are participating in a series of online webinars designed to assist Ukrainian therapists deal with the trauma of war.
The series, entitled "War and Its impact on Children and Families", was initiated by the European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ESTSS) in collaboration with the Israeli Society for Traumatic Stress Research (ISTSR) led by Prof. Sara Freedman, Director of Bar-Ilan's Weisfeld School of Social Work.
The webinar series features scholars of psychology specializing in trauma who will provide assistance to Ukrainian caregivers in addressing war victims, children, and families.
The first webinar, held on April 6 addressed Primary Psychological Interventions for Children and Families Following War and Crisis. Prof. Freedman led the discussion with Dr. Tamar Lavi, Head of the Research Unit of NATAL (Israel Trauma and Resilience Center).
The second webinar will take place on April 11, at 11:30 a.m. (Israel), and will focus on New Techniques for Coping with Continuous Threat. The talk will be led by Prof. Rivka Tuval Mashiach and Prof. Danny Horesh, of the Department of Psychology at Bar-Ilan University, and Prof. Moshe Ben-Simon from Bar-Ilan's Department of Criminology.
