Description

The Halpern Center for the Study of Jewish Self-Perception is issuing a call for applications for a post-doctoral fellowship in the amount of 70,000 NIS, for the year 2024-2025. The fellowship will be undertaken at the Israel and Golda Koschitzky Department of Jewish History and Contemporary Jewry at Bar-Ilan University. The Center typically supports projects that deal with self-perception in Jewish societies in historical perspective. An additional post-doctoral fellowship of 70,000 NIS will be offered by the Marcell and Maria Roth Chair in the History and Culture of Polish Jewry for scholars focusing on eastern European Jewish History.

Criteria

The fellowships are open to candidates who have completed their doctoral degree in 2019 or thereafter.

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Postdoctoral fellows will be expected to deliver a lecture sponsored by the Halpern Center on their research over the course of the academic year, to participate in the activities of the Center, and is expected to acknowledge the Center’s support in all relevant future publications.

Detailed research proposal, including a one-page bibliography

Letter of reference from the doctoral advisor

Letter from a faculty member of the Bar-Ilan Department of Jewish History who is willing to serve as mentor for the duration of the fellowship
