The Faculty of Social Sciences is the largest at Bar-Ilan University in terms of faculty members and enrolled students. It comprises 11 departments and schools, covering the entire range of social science disciplines, including Business Administration, Communication, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology and Anthropology, Political Science, Criminology, Management, Economics, Social Sciences and Health, as well as Environment, Planning, and Sustainability.

The Faculty provides students with a supportive, up-to-date, and enriching learning environment, nurtures them towards academic and personal excellence, and equips them with the knowledge and skills necessary for integration into key positions in academia, the economy, and public and governmental institutions.

The Faculty's staff includes internationally renowned researchers engaged in groundbreaking and influential research, as well as faculty members with rich and diverse field experience. The quality of research, combined with multidisciplinary and a high level of teaching, forms the basis for the Faculty's success.

The Faculty of Social Sciences strives to establish its academic status as an Israeli and international hub for innovative research and advanced teaching, while addressing the most pressing issues for society and the economy. It also aims to influence social processes, public policy, relevant professionals, and the community.

Professor Galit Nahari is an international expert in the field of forensic psychology. Her research spans a variety of topics in the areas of deception, lie detection, decision-making, and face-to-face investigative interviewing. A major contribution of her work is the Verifiability Approach to lie detection, which is studied and implemented by law enforcement and security organizations worldwide.

Professor Nahari serves as the editor-in-chief of Legal and Criminological Psychology, a prestigious British journal, and is a member of journal editorial boards, international research centers and groups, and maintains fruitful collaborations with leading laboratories in the field in Europe and the United States. She believes in academia's commitment to transferring and making scientific knowledge accessible to society and professionals, and in the potential for mutual enrichment through collaborative work with the field. Thus, alongside her scientific work, she promotes collaborations between academia and the field in study programs, research work, consulting, and specialized training.

Professor Nahari has been a senior faculty member in the Department of Criminology since 2009; since then, she has served as head of the Department of Criminology and led various graduate programs, including the Investigative Interviewing track, which offers a unique specialization worldwide.
