What War Looks Like
"Soul Matter - Art in Times of War" is a new exhibition being launched by BIU featuring works dealing with October 7 and Iron Swords War
The exhibition showcases paintings, photographs, poems, stories, sculptures, and videos created by academic faculty, administrative staff, and students from the Bar-Ilan community.
The exhibition was initiated by the university's new Resilience Center in collaboration with the Libraries and Information System. The Resilience Center coordinates and promotes all resilience activities at the university, offering academic and emotional support to students and staff members.
The center published a call for submissions to Bar-Ilan community members several months ago – and the response was overwhelming. Some examples of photographs that will be displayed in the exhibition: a father protecting his infant son above an open grave during a siren alert, work by Ita Kaufman from the School of Social Work. The engineering vehicle 9D at midnight, photographed in Sajayia by Ronen Alkalay from the Department of Environment, Planning and Sustainability, and a collage featuring the anguished faces of hostages' family members, photographed by Professor Alon Korngreen from the Faculty of Life Sciences
The exhibition will be launched on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 14:00, in the Naomi and Izzy Libler Exhibition Hall, lobby of Building 401. The new Resilience Center will also be inaugurated at this event. The public is invited.
