International Conference on Jan. 3
Rabbi Dr. David Zvi Hoffmann
On January 3, 2022, the Faculty of Jewish Studies at Bar-Ilan University will hold an international conference, “Rabbi Dr. David Zvi Hoffmann (1843-1921): Scholar, Exegete, Halakhist, Leader”. Each of the conference sessions will focus on a particular facet of his life work: Hoffmann as an Orthodox Leader and Thinker; Hoffmann as a Scholar and Exegete; Hoffmann as Halakhic Authority; and the final session will explore Rabbi Dr. Hoffmann’s Legacy.
Scholars from Israel and abroad will attend the conference, and lectures will be given in English or Hebrew. The conference is being organized by the Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch Chair for Research on the Torah with Derekh Erez Movement, the Israel and Golda Koschitzky Department of Jewish History and Contemporary Jewry, and the Multidisciplinary Department of Jewish Studies.
The conference will be held in the Beck Auditorium, Building 410 (Rappaport Building- Faculty of Jewish Studies) at Bar-Ilan University.
