Religious Diplomacy and Abraham Accords
Keynote talk at online conference given by H. E. Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, of United Arab Emirates Federal National Council
BIU’s Conflict Management, Resolution and Negotiation Graduate Program held an online conference, “Religious Diplomacy in the Context of the UAE-Israel Abraham Accords: Theory and Practice”, on June 8, 2021. The event also marked the debut of Dr. Daniel Roth’s new book: “Third-Party Peacemaking in Judaism: Text, Theory, and Practice”, Oxford University Press, 2021.
The keynote speaker was His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, a member of the United Arab Emirates Federal National Council, chairman of the Defense Affairs, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee, chairman of International Steering Board of Hedayah, the International Center of Excellence for Countering Violent Extremism, founder and chairman of the World Council of Muslim Communities, and former Chancellor of United Arab Emirates University.
Panelists included Roi Dvir, Director of the Gulf States Department at the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Rabbi David Rosen, International Director of Interreligious Affairs at the American Jewish Committee; HE Dr. Muhammad Al-Bashari, Secretary General of The World Muslim Communities Council; and Robert Wexler, former US congressman and president of the S. Daniel Abraham Center of Middle East Peace. The conference academic coordinator was Dr. Ben Mollov of BIU’s Project for the Study of Religion, Culture and Peace. There were simultaneous translations of the conference in Hebrew, English and Arabic
